Greetings folks! Since snow will be upon us within the week, here are three tasks you may want to tackle before Halloween:
The no-brainer: Blow out your sprinklers. I have plenty of resources, and paid $50 for it this year. The big-brainer: Order yourself an extra flame sensor and perhaps even an ignitor for your furnace. These are the two most common items to fail in the middle of the night and you’ll thank me when you’re doing a ten minute swap of either one of these instead of calling an HVAC tech. Furthermore, flame sensors can often be given a bit of life by cleaning them with something with extremely mild grit, like a fresh dollar bill. The fresh-smelling-brainer: This one may seem like a stretch, but if you have a top loading washing machine, you may want to consider removing and cleaning the agitator. Everybody has forgotten a load of towels in the wash, prompting a subsequent re-wash. But if your clothes are perpetually retaining that musty, forgotten laundry smell OR if you have little flecks of crud at the bottom of the tub (or on your clothes), you may need to perform this minor surgery on your washing machine, specifically those with the “plate” agitator at the bottom and not the tall ones that extend to the lid. Removing the pillar type will require a very long drill bit and is a much more involved process. My washer is a Samsung, but I believe many modern plate agitator machines have the same basic build. Here’s what you’ll do:
In an effort to keep this brief I’ll end this there. If you have any questions on any of these suggestions or of course real estate, reach out! Hope everyone is doing well and Happy Halloween! Crip
